All About Brownsville

& Haywood County

July 22, 2010

Volume 6, Issue 27

Today is Kid's Day! The annual event sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and B-HC Parks and Recreation will begin at 10 a.m., at Volunteer Park.

Haywood After Hours Clinic is also celebrating its 1-Year Anniversary today with an Open House from 5-7 p.m. Drop by and show your support. Having somewhere to go, other than the emergency room, at night and on weekends is a great asset for our community.

It's getting time for the annual Boys and Girls Club Steak N' Burger Dinner. It's planned for Thursday, August 19. This year's special guest speaker is Dr. Will Jones. Dr. Jones is the former pastor of Brownsville's First Presbyterian Church, so I'm sure there will be many who will want to attend this event. Tables are $400 and individual tickets are $25. To reserve your table, contact the Club at 731-772-0552. All proceeds benefit the programs of the Brownsville Unit of the Boys and Girls Club.

Election Day is fast approaching for the County General Election and State Primary. Rotary is sponsoring a Hamburger Lunch that day on the square and at the First South Bank Community Room. Five dollars will get you a cheeseburger, chips, drink and dessert. All the money raised will support local Rotary education/literacy programs. Call in your order to 731-772-0184 or fax 731-772-0189. you can also buy an advanced ticket from any Rotarian.

And speaking of the Election, Stanton Neighborhood Watch is sponsoring a Fish Fry in downtown Stanton Friday, July 30, from 4-8 p.m. This is an opportunity for you to meet and learn more about all the Haywood County candidates. Fish plates are $7 and includes all the fixin's, plus for $1 more you can get some homemade ice cream. Trust me, those Stanton ladies know how to make good homemade ice cream. They also sell it at the Farmers Market each Saturday morning, so check that out, too.

The annual State of the School Celebration is coming up August 4 at HHS. Everyone is invited to attend this event and businesses are encouraged to set up booths to showcase their products and services to everyone in the school system. For more details call Art Garrett at 731-772-9613, ext. 224. Deadline to sign up for a booth is July 30.

Have you stopped by Fine Things on the square and checked out the storewide anniversary sale this month? If not, please drop by; everything in the store is on sale - up to 50% off some items. And while you're there, tell Alice you appreciate her sponsoring this month's All About Brownsville. Thanks!
