Tomorrow night is the big night for Relay
for Life. Things begin to happen at 5 p.m., followed by an opening ceremony,
Survivor Walk, Luminary Service and lots of entertainment. Make plans to be
at the football field for this special night. Calendar below includes a list
of entertainers. Plus wrestling will be making a return appearance. The
Survivor’s Luncheon is today and will officially kick-off the event. I predict no rain this year. Wow! Haywood’s Got Talent was a huge success. Because of
the time change I was not able to attend, but coordinator Tennille Short
tells me about 250 showed up to cheer on the young people participating. I
also heard Tamira Cole was an awesome emcee. Fifteen-year-old
singer/songwriter Katherine Tritt is the big winner and will perform at this
year’s Hatchie Fall Fest. Placing a close second was Clifton Smith and James
Gavin, who did a double drum solo; and third place went to Dwan Smith, a
Christian rapper.
Congratulations to the winners. Two benefit pageants are coming up. This weekend is the
Peace of Xcellence Pageant and next weekend Herbie’s Heros pageant will
benefit the Haywood County Humane Society. Details in the calendar below. Two events coming up in June that I know you will want
to participate in. First is the 12th Annual March of Dimes Golf
Tournament to be held Thursday, June 3 at the Brownsville Country Club. Cost
is $240 per team and registration begins at 11:30 with a shotgun start at 1
p.m. Contact Debra Jackson at 731-772-5183 or Tara Joyner at 731-780-1328 to
register. Then mark your calendar for the West TN Friends of the NRA Banquet
on Thursday, June 10, 6 p.m., at the First South Community Room. Tickets are
$25 per person. Our local Young Guns Shooting Team benefits directly from
this event, as do other local projects. You’ll also have a chance to win some
great prizes. Contact Mark Kendrick at 731-772-9304 or Galon Baggett at
731-772-8110 for tickets. We’re celebrating National Tourism Week at the Heritage Center with displays from the Haywood County Museum and the Dunbar Carver Museum. Come check us out! ~ Sonia Join the Conversation: AAB Blog |
